On October 19, 2025, four bold thieves stunned the world by breaking into the Apollo Gallery at the Louvre in Paris, France, and making off with $102-million worth of royal jewelry. The thieves used a truck-mounted mechanized lift to access a balcony and cut through a window with power tools. The entire heist took just four minutes, after which they escaped on two waiting scooters.

The shocking event has exposed security failings and managerial negligence within the museum. For example, one-third of the rooms the thieves passed through had no CCTV coverage.
